History of RMS 'Z' Division

In the Nizam’s State there was only one RMS Division with headquarters at Hyderabad.  There were 2 Record Offices viz. RO BG Nampally at Hyderabad RS and RO MG Kacheguda at Kacheguda Railway Station to which Yadsi, Barai, Kazipet and Wadi manned by Mail guards.  The Divisional office of RMS was located at RO BG Nampally building at Hyderabad RS (present Bag Office of Hyderabad Sorting Division).  In divisional office there were only two or three clerks including the accountant and the rest were Checkers-cum-Clerks.  Next to SRM the Record Clerk, BG Nampally was the chief controlling authority. The sections of the Nizam’s Postal system as well as those of Indian Union used to work in separate postal vans attached to the rake of the same train.  The Indian Union RMS sections were under the control of RMS ‘M’ Division of Madras Circle.
